Hockey Rink in Trollhättan, Sweden

In collaboration with our partner Granitor, we were tasked with delivering a sophisticated, smart lighting solution for a hockey rink in Sweden. The goal was to provide high-performance illumination for the ice while creating a safe and distinctly controlled lighting environment for the surrounding spectator areas.

The Challenge

The project required a multi-functional lighting system capable of differentiating between the main playing area and the public walking zones. The solution needed to provide powerful, high-quality light for sporting action and separate, lower-level lighting for the walkways. Furthermore, it had to seamlessly integrate a reliable emergency lighting system and ensure the entire installation was protected from potential power grid instabilities.

The Solution

We deployed six lines of our versatile TritonMAX linear fixtures, creating a comprehensive system that addressed every project requirement. The installation's success was built on several key features:

Dual-Zone Smart Control: Leveraging the B2L mesh network, we created two distinct lighting zones. Movement detected in the outer walking areas triggers only those fixtures to an energy-efficient 30% brightness. However, any movement inside the hockey rink instantly illuminates the entire hall to 100%.
High-Performance Illumination: At full power, the system delivers an impressive 900 lux across the ice with a high uniformity of approximately 0.80, creating perfect visibility for players and spectators alike.
Integrated Emergency Lighting: We utilized our TritonMAX-Emergency fixtures, which function as part of the standard lighting system during normal operation. In the event of a power failure, their integrated emergency drivers automatically activate, ensuring safety.
Robust System Protection: To safeguard the installation, we equipped every lighting line with our TX-P surge protectors, providing solid protection against potential power surges.
