Barislight Lighting Renovation Project – PANAGIOTAS Supermarket

The present project concerns the complete renovation of the lighting systems of the Supermarket – Cash & Carry PANAGIOTAS, located on the island of Rhodes, Greece. BARISLIGHT undertook the lighting design of the interior space using Dialux, the lighting calculation and visualization software, as well as the manufacturing of the luminaires for all areas of the store.

The lighting design was developed in accordance with modern energy standards, aiming at the maximum utilization of natural daylight and the integration of advanced technologies that support circadian lighting regulation, enhancing comfort and improving the experience of both customers and staff.

For the implementation of the project, linear luminaires and specially designed linear lighting luminaires were used, incorporating series of LED modules from Vossloh-Schwabe Deutschland GmbH: LED Line SMD W2.5 Light&Dark at 4000K, LED Line SMD Tuneable W2, and LED Line SMD W2.5 Light&Dark TW with Tunable White 2700K–6500K.

These solutions were applied both for diffuse general lighting and for targeted Dark-type lighting, ensuring visual comfort, glare control, and high performance.

Additionally, the Blu2Light® system by Vossloh-Schwabe Deutschland GmbH was installed in all areas and in the majority of the luminaires. This is a wireless lighting control and building management system based on Bluetooth® Mesh technology, enabling easy and flexible control through mobile device applications. The system allows integration with DALI and DMX power supplies, control of LED drivers, sensors, and lighting scenarios, offering full customization and programming of lighting per area according to the functional and commercial requirements of each zone.

Within the project, Blu2Light MultiSensor XS units were implemented per luminaire group, in combination with Blu2Light DALI Power Supply units and PrimeLine NFC L-TW DALI 75W drivers and the software app LiNA CONNECT.

The design of each zone was developed in accordance with its commercial function and spatial layout. The aisles and the butcher area were equipped with GANGES SUSPENDED 55x60 1B luminaires by BARISLIGHT at 4000K, featuring microprismatic diffusers for uniform light distribution and reduced glare.

In the checkout area, kitchen, and delicatessen/cheese section, custom DARK linear lighting structures from the DARK LINEAR SUSPENDED 55x70 1B series by BARISLIGHT were installed. These incorporate Light&Dark LINEAR GRIDS 1R and Linear Optics 1R components by Vossloh-Schwabe Deutschland GmbH, fully compatible with the corresponding LED modules.

The final lighting proposal fully meets the aesthetic direction set by the client and the architect, while simultaneously fulfilling all functional, energy-efficiency, and commercial requirements of a modern supermarket environment, with emphasis on efficiency, flexibility, and high-quality spatial experience.
