CRAWL-e | The research project of our engineering students
As part of a study project at the dual university Baden-Württemberg (DHBW), the students have developed the so-called CRAWL-e: with the help of a semi-autonomous cargo trailer, the intelligent train formation for urban logistics is to be advanced. Future areas of application, such as baggage handling at airports or internal logistics, are also possible.
The basis of the CRAWL-e is a small trailer that follows an ArUco marker driving ahead, or in this case, walking. A Raspberry Pi takes over the computing power, a servo motor ensures smooth steering. Using a built-in camera, the car identifies the marker and always follows it automatically at the same distance.
CRAWL-e at the SWR Landesschau Baden-Württemberg The research project was presented by SWR Landesschau Baden-Württemberg in the evening programme on 19 May 2023. The CRAWL-e was tested as a self-propelled handcart on Father's Day in the best hiking weather for a beer cart. |
CRAWL-e at the HANNOVER Messe 2023 Likewise, the research project was presented together with DHBW at the Hannover Messe in April 2023. An opportunity for the students to show their skills and present the DHBW and Vossloh-Schwabe, but also to be part of the industrial world of tomorrow. |
